Journey - Exceptional Needs Ministry

Journey Exceptional Needs Ministry
Services available at KVCC Litchfield/Phoenix  during all services

Mission: Isaiah 40:31

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

The purpose of the Journey Program is to offer care to KVCC family members who have children with exceptional needs, an opportunity to feel free to worship and participate in service, while providing a safe environment for their child where they will learn how to live a life with biblical principles; and to begin to teach them how to have a personal relationship with Jesus. And through His word, gain an understanding of His power and purpose for their lives.

Vision:

The Journey Program is designed for children who have, or who are at increased risk for chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions into an atmosphere where they can discover and respect for all of God’s children while supporting their specific needs. Jesus and build a solid spiritual foundation; by teaching them how to become fully devoted to Jesus in a safe environment. Our goal is to help them accomplish this by modeling and teaching biblical life principles, a Christ-like character and respect for all of God’s children while supporting their specific needs.

Journey Eagles are children that have one or more of the following:

According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) language, disability means a “physical or mental impairment” that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities.

·         Physical impairment - includes but is not limited to asthma, blindness, deafness, seizures, heart disease, or cerebral palsy

·         Mental impairment - includes but is not limited to developmental delay, behavior disorders, or learning disabilities

·         Major life activities - includes breathing, hearing, seeing, speaking, walking, using of arms and legs, learning and playing.  Playing is the work of children

Journey Exceptional Needs Ministry believes children and parents benefit when all children learn and play together:?

Every child is unique! Including children with special needs reflects the “Kingdom community” where people with and without disabilities live, work, and play together.  Inclusion contributes to acceptance, improved socialization, and an understanding of individual differences.

Journey Ministry provides a framework within our own Children’s Ministry:
~Making reasonable modifications to policies and practices to integrate children with disabilities into the program
~Providing auxiliary aids and services needed for effective communication with children with disabilities
~Including children with disabilities into our Children’s Ministry in a supportive environment while maintaining the health and safety of all children
